Maker's Cleaning Cloths

Which cleaning cloth should I use?

We get asked this question all the time, so we've created an in-depth chart which breaks it down for you!

Do I have to wash cleaning cloths separate from my regular laundry?

Our recommendation is to wash them separately. When they're washed with other items like cotton, lint from the other fabrics can become lodged in the cloths. That being said, if you only have a few cloths, and it's not worth doing a separate load, they're not going to suddenly stop working!

Do I need to wash them before using?

Yes, we always recommend washing out cloths and towels before your first time using them, especially for cloths that are in the purple/red/blue spectrum as these textiles do bleed upon first wash.

Should I wash my cloths in hot, warm or cold water?

We recommend washing our cloths and towels in cold water. Laundry detergent will eliminate any dirt and/or bacteria so no need to worry about using a hot water cycle.

Why do you not recommend laundering microfiber in hot water?

So, here's the thing. Frequent washing in high heat can damage microfiber over time. A few times here or there is fine—it's unlikely your machine will get hot enough (unless it's on a sanitize cycle) to permanently damage them after a single wash. That said, repeatedly washing on high heat will reduce the efficacy of microfiber over time, and ultimately reduce the life span of the cloth.

Can I use them to clean up oil and grease?

We do not recommend using your cloths to clean up excessive oil or grease as it will compromise the integrity and quality of the product. This doesn't include things like bacon grease splatters or other similar kitchen messes.

Can I use your cloths with cleaning products that contain essential oils?

Yes! If you’re using essential oils diluted with water it shouldn't damage your cloths.

Can I use oil based furniture spray/polish with your cloths?

You could, although our concern is that waxy products like this may clog the fibers, and you may not get as good results from the cloth moving forward. We prefer not to use these types of products with our cloths.

My cloths have started to smell bad when they get wet. What can I do?

You'll want to soak the cloth in a vinegar / water solution (50/50) overnight, and then launder as recommended. Going forward, make sure to always rinse and dry the cloth after use!

The Maker's Mop

The Swivel Lock pops out when I apply too much pressure, is this normal?

Yes, this is normal. The swivel lock is meant to steady the head for tasks such as wall cleaning, high dusting etc. However, because this is part of the overall mechanism that allows you to store the mop head vertically (ie. it pops into a vertical and horizontal position) the "lock" is not meant to withstand significant left/right pressure. That said, our testing demonstrated that the lock was significant enough to effectively complete associated cleaning tasks.

What is your warranty policy?

The Maker's Mop is covered under a 1-year manufacturer's warrranty. If suring this time your mop has an issue please contact us. Please note that the Maker's Mop is not intended for commercial use, and as such, the warranty policy will not cover any defect due to commercial use.

Luxury Face Cloth

Are these safe to use on eyes and in the under-eye area?

Totally!  Our founder wanted a ‘one and done’ cloth that could be used everywhere and do all these jobs safely. The face cloths are soft enough to be used around the eyes to remove eyeshadow, mascara, and concealer under the eyes.

I have sensitive skin, will these irritate me?

No, this will be your new best friend. The texture of the cloth is super soft - like brand new teddy bear soft - and not scratchy. Our founder suffered very bad acne as a teenager and remembers the discomfort of washing and drying her face with terry face cloths. These are soft, gentle and effective. They feel amazing on all skin types.

Can I remove makeup using water only?

We strongly recommend you use cleanser when removing your makeup as a first step for best results. The cloth is amazing at removing makeup on its own , but we find our skin feels properly clean after makeup when used with cleanser.

Do I need to rinse the cloth after use?

When you are finished removing makeup or washing your face, rinse your cloth well to remove any residue or product left behind. Allow to dry and then place in laundry basket. Any remaining makeup should come right out in the wash but if it doesn’t, no need to worry stains won't affect the efficacy of the cloth! Note: you can also use a stain removal product before washing.

What is each side of the cloth for?

The luxury face cloth features two unique sides—a shorter weave for washing and removing makeup, and a longer weave for rinsing and drying your skin. Start with the short side, finish with the long side, and rinse the cloth between steps to remove any product or cleanser build up.

How many washes will they last?

Your 5-pack of Luxury Face Cloths will last you for thousands of washes. They are designed to feel soft yet be extremely durable. You would want to consider replacing your cloths if you notice the fibers clumping together (this is due to washing in high heat), the fibers feeling rough (this is due to washing with fabric softener or drying with dryer sheets) or if the cloth has a hole in it (this can happen with bleach use or with use over many years). We want you to think of these cloths like a reliable car that you can drive ‘into the ground’. They will last you for years if you treat them right, saving you lots of money and leaving your skin feeling clean, calm and soft.

My cloth isn't as fluffy as it used be!

Just like a new fleece sweater that ages over time, so too will these cloths. After a few washes, just like a fluffy sweatshirt, they won’t look exactly the same. They will remain soft and fluffy for longer if you care for them properly; rinse well, launder using cool settings, wash with like items and avoid fabric softener.

Reusable Scrub Cloths

How do I keep my scrub cloths from getting stinky, especially if I’m using it to clean dishes?

We like to give our scrub cloths a mini hand-wash after every use. When you’re finished scrubbing your leftovers off your plates, pots and pans, squirt a small amount of dish soap on your scrub cloth and give it a good scrub itself! Rinse it until the water runs clear, and hang to dry in between uses.

Do I need to wash my scrub cloths before using it for the first time?

YES, we highly recommend washing all of our products before their first use.

Where can I use my scrub cloths?

The short answer is... anywhere that needs scrubbing! While we use ours in the kitchen the most, they're great at tackling bathroom and outdoor messes as well. They're perfect for dishes, tiles, counters, tabletops, cupboards, drawers, floors, sinks, tubs, showers, outdoor furniture and more!

How long will they last? When should I toss it away and start using a new one?

If you care for your cloths properly, they will last MUCH longer than traditional sponges. We recommend hand washing with dish soap and fresh water after every use, and throwing it in the laundry every 3/4 days. Make sure to hang dry in between each use to prevent bacteria build up.

Mine look frayed, is this normal?

Yes, no need to worry! While these are made to last for multiple uses, they are still subject to normal wear and tear depending on the surface/objects you’re using them on. All of that to say, they will still perform well even when they start to look ‘worn in’.

What is the warranty on these?

As noted in a previous question, while these little work-horses are durable, they are still subject to wear and tear. We provide a 3-month manufacturer's warranty period on these scrub cloths.

Sales, Shipping & Returns

How long will it take to get my order?

We're unable to give exact timelines on shipping. Within the United States and Canada, orders are usually delivered within 3-5 business days depending on the time of year. International orders are usually delivered within 15-20 business days, but depending on your exact location this may vary.

Are customs/duty/VAT charges included in the price?

No, they are not—every country is different so be sure to check your local customs and tariff regulations on items coming from the United States which are made in China.

Can I change or cancel my order?

We like to get your order(s) to you ASAP, so, once you've placed your order there is a small window to make changes to it. Here are some scenarios:

(a) If it hasn't been shipped yet we can certainly change your shipping address, but once an order has been processed, unfortunately, there is nothing we can do.

(b) Canceling an order, or removing an item from an order, follows the same logic—there is a small window to contact us before an item is out of our hands.

(c) If you would like to add items to an order, unfortunately this can't be done manually. You would need to place a new order. If your order hasn't shipped yet we may be able to bundle them together to save on shipping. Contact us in this situation.

So, bottom line, act within 30 minutes of placing an order (on business days) and we should be able to change an address, remove an item, or cancel an order. Reach out to support@makersclean.com with your request. Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee that your order will be altered or canceled, but we'll always do whatever we can to help you out.

Where can I find tracking information?

You can track your package from the shipping confirmation email you'll receive once your order ships. If you didn't receive an email check your junk folder. As a last resort you can contact our Customer Experience Team at support@makersclean.com.

It says my order has been shipped but tracking isn't working.

Note that as soon as our fulfillment center processes your order a tracking number is generated and sent to you. That said, the actual shipping service (USPS, DHL, Canada Post, etc.) will often not have the tracking number registered in their system until the package has been physically picked up and scanned in. So, give it a day (especially on the weekend!) and then check back.

It says my package was delivered but I haven't received it yet.

Sometimes packages will be marked as delivered before they're dropped off. Weird right? Wait 24 hours to see if your items are delivered, also check with your neighbours. If your order cannot be found please contact us at support@makersclean.com with your order number and we'll do our best to track it down.

Where are Maker's Clean products manufactured?

All of our products are made in China.
